Love me some Downton Abbey

Have y'all been watching Downton Abbey? If you're not...you should be!

Season Two just concluded last Sunday on PBS, but if you haven't been watching you still have time to catch up. Season One is available for streaming on Netflix, and Cam and I first watched it back when we were living in Colorado and got hooked after one episode. (Yes, Cam loves this show too...it's that good!) Season Two premiered here in the US last month and is available online at Pbs.org, but according to the website it's only available for streaming there for a few more days! However, since the show came out months ago in the UK I'm pretty sure you may also be able to purchase Seasons 1 & 2 online from Itunes.

What's so great about Downton Abbey you ask?

Um, everything.

It takes place in England during the early 20th century, and centers around a wealthy family (who lives in Downton Abbey...hence the name) and their many servants. I love history and this takes place during such a fascinating time. I love all the period details of the show (even if they aren't all completely correct) and the house is amazingly gorgeous. Everything is so formal and there is such distinction between classes, it's so totally different from life today. Each episode is full of drama, romance, scandal, and some humor...mainly thanks to the Dowager Countess of Grantham, played fabulously by Maggie Smith.

I also love all the gorgeous gowns that the Crawley women are always wearing in this series, it makes me wish that people still dressed this way...and wore hats.

The show is so well-cast and all the different storylines between the characters are so intriguing!

Long story short? If you haven't watched Downtown Abbey, you need to see what all the buzz is about! It's definitely one of the most entertaining, well-written shows on television.
